SUMMARY
The Point-of-Sale Technician plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service and technical support for customers in assigned territories. This position is primarily focused on promptly responding to service requests regarding Point-of-Sale (POS) hardware and related equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, completing repairs, and ensuring thorough testing of all equipment to provide reliable performance. The technician will also manage spare parts inventory and maintain accurate documentation for all service activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Timely respond to service requests, keeping customers informed and ensuring detailed documentation of service calls, including parts used.
- Communicate effectively and positively with store personnel and the Truno team, ensuring information is clear and accessible.
- Available to work regular hours and on-call for after-hours service as needed.
- Willingness to travel, typically within a 150-mile radius, with limited overnight stays.
- Expertly troubleshoot and repair in-store equipment, verifying full functionality post-service.
- Utilize basic power tools and equipment necessary for repairs and maintenance.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on POS and additional hardware, including laser printers, meat scales, and network equipment.
- Support customers with software and hardware configurations, installations, and upgrades as required.
- Maintain organization, preparation, and a professional appearance at all times.
- Uphold confidentiality and adherence to company policies.
- Meet defined deadlines and timelines for service requests.
- Responsible for maintaining company-provided vehicle and tools, ensuring readiness for service calls.
- Stay updated on technical knowledge and product information relevant to equipment in the assigned service territory.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
Associates Degree in Information Technology or a related field (Preferred).
Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in technology service (Preferred).
- Prior experience in a retail environment (Preferred).
- Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office applications (Required).
- Hands‑on experience with electronics and technology hardware (Preferred).
Licenses & Certifications
- CompTIA A+ Certification (Preferred).
- CompTIA Network+ Certification (Preferred).
- Other industry-specific certifications (Preferred).
Skills & Knowledge (Required)
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Basic computer break/fix skills and knowledge.
- Understanding of basic PC operations and software.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, communicating clearly with non-technical users.
- Familiarity with networks and wireless devices (Preferred).
- Competent in using basic hand tools and test equipment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High capability to multitask and solve problems efficiently.
