SummaryThe Field Technician supports the students and staff at area schools. They work in the local school buildings to help ensure the efficient technical operations in support of education. Acting as part of a team that supports multiple school districts, they manage local devices and coordinate the resolution of local issues.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOther duties may be assigned.
- Maintain (install, troubleshoot, repair, etc.) desktops, chrome books, laptops, mobile devices, printers, software and operating systems
- Image computers as necessary
- Maintain Chromebook carts
- Support remote access for staff and students
- Support timely updates for operating systems and applications
- Monitor and report on local cybersecurity concerns
- Track and manage inventory and warranty repairs
- Maintain documentation, asset inventories and passwords
- In coordination with Technology Services Director assist with planning and budgeting
- In coordination with the Systems Administrators manage end‑user credentials and access to network resources, including file shares, printers, Internet and network services
- Provide on‑call and after‑hours support as necessary
- Respond in a timely manner to helpdesk support tickets
- Collaborate with other repair techs for larger projects
Skills and Abilities
- Networking including Wireless, DHCP, TCP/IP and Ethernet
- Internet services including HTTP, FTP, SSH, POP3, DNS, and SMTP
- Specific software including Microsoft Office, Chrome and Google Work spaces
- Cybersecurity, including malware and phishing protection, secure remote access, virus scanning and password management
- General A/V equipment, including projection equipment, audio sound systems and multimedia delivery systems
- Effective communication and customer service skills

Education and/or ExperienceTechnical certifications and/or applicable college courses. Demonstrated expertise providing technical support.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation and periodicals. Ability to research technical issues and new technology options using all available resources including the Internet. Ability to clearly communicate through oral presentation, multimedia presentations, written reports and email. Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of professionals, including technicians, engineers, administrators, board members, general public, students, teachers and sales people.
MathematicalSkills
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to convert and operate between various base number systems, primarily base 2, base 10, and base 16. Ability to gather, analyze and draw conclusions from or spot correlations in large data sets (e.g. time samples, logs).
