Technical Writer

We are looking for an energetic Technical Writer with experience working in Service Now and a strong work ethic and writing skills.

Job Duties

This pivotal position will work with the teams to ensure proper documentation is created and updated for processes and support in a Service Now implementation.

Job Requirements

A Service Now technical writer is responsible for creating and maintaining documentation related to the Service Now platform. This includes documenting technical specifications, user manuals, release notes, and other related materials. The job duties for a Service Now technical writer may include:

  • Researching and gathering information on Service Now platform features, functionality, and updates
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation for the Service Now platform, including user manuals, installation guides, and system requirements
  • Collaborating with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and complete documentation
  • Reviewing and editing documentation for accuracy, consistency, and readability
  • Managing documentation releases and version control
  • Providing training to end-users on how to use the Service Now platform
  • Creating and maintaining knowledge articles and FAQs
  • Participating in Service Now platform testing and troubleshooting as needed

To be successful in this role, a Service Now technical writer should have excellent writing and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of the Service Now platform. They should also be verse in ITIL and able to use programs like Visio to support their writing. They should also be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

A bachelor's degree in technical writing, computer science, or a related field is often required, along with experience in technical writing and documentation. Experience with Service Now is highly preferred.
