The Marketing Operations team is responsible for increasing efficiencies and driving results within the Meijer Marketing department by establishing, managing and optimizing effective processes that empower teams to maximize performance.

The Marketing Technology & AI Specialist leads the Marketing AI Task Force, which serves to accelerate adoption of AI tools within Marketing to drive efficiencies, improve creativity and optimize workflows. The Marketing Technology & AI Specialist is a strategic and hands‑on leader responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and supporting Marketing & Customer Strategy technology initiatives.

This role blends technical expertise with vision to deliver innovative Marketing solutions, driving the integration of emerging technologies for Marketing & Customer Strategy, such as AI, automation, and immersive media. The Marketing Technology & AI Specialist will serve as a key partner across Marketing & Customer Strategy teams, ensuring Meijer remains at the forefront of retail marketing innovation.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Design and implement workflows leveraging AI and automation to optimize content production and digital experiences.
  • Guide the success of the Marketing AI Task Force for the Marketing & Customer Strategy department and lead teams responsible for developing and improving these platforms, in partnership with IT Technical Product Owner (Marketing Solutions & Automation).
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs, create user experience vision and roadmap, define requirements, and guide Product Owner(s) within Agile development teams.
  • Effectively prioritize work, schedule features and capabilities for release, validate customer response, and provide fast feedback.
  • Manage business assumptions and expectations about project requirements, design, and architecture by monitoring actual development, testing, and experimentation among Agile teams.
  • Serve as business lead for the Agile Release Train responsible for developing and implementing user experiences for Marketing & Customer Strategy, and other emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with IT and technical teams to provide system requirements and data structures supporting Marketing solutions and automation.
  • Integrate with all Marketing & Customer Strategy initiatives to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Provide direct leadership to Product Owners and third-party contractors, managing project engagement, scope, deliverables, team performance, and issue resolution.
  • Develop, test prototypes and implement marketing technology that accelerates the adoption of AI tools and drives efficiencies across the department.
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies in generative AI, creative automation, and immersive experiences.
  • Support orchestration of scalable personalization and data-driven creative execution.
  • Leads in the development of key business relationships and integrates across departments to ensure successful implementation and support of projects.
  • Sets up and tracks specific project plan schedules and budgets. Adjusts project plans and resolves issues as necessary.
  • Plans and leads the successful onboarding of new vendor partners (i.e., Adobe Firefly).

What You’ll Bring With You
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, technology, computer science or related discipline is required
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, user experience development, mobile marketing, loyalty, or other digital solutions‑based work.
