This full-time, on-site Video Engineer role is based in Grand Rapids, MI. The Video Engineer will set up, operate, and maintain video systems for live events, including cameras, switching, routing, monitoring, and playback devices. Daily tasks include configuring video conferencing and streaming solutions, ensuring reliable video-on-demand (VOD) and streaming media delivery, and performing real-time troubleshooting during events. The role involves collaborating closely with audio, lighting, and production teams to design and execute show-ready video systems, testing equipment before events, and providing technical support throughout rehearsals and live productions.
The Video Engineer will also help maintain and document video equipment inventories, standards, and workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for live event video systems, signal paths, and equipment issues.
- Proficiency with video conferencing platforms and hardware used in hybrid and virtual events.
- Experience working with VOD and streaming media workflows, including encoding, distribution, and playback.
- Hands‑on knowledge of digital video technologies, formats, resolutions, and frame rates.
- Experience with live video switching, routing, and monitoring in production environments.
- Familiarity with AV and production equipment (cameras, scalers, projectors, LED walls) is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on‑site, including occasional evenings and weekends, and to lift and handle production equipment safely.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to customer service and reliable event execution.
- Relevant technical training or certification in video production, broadcast, AV technology, or a related field is preferred.
