Network Engineer, Systems Engineer
We are hiring a Network Engineer Consultant who will design, implement, operate, and continuously improve Steelcase's global enterprise network infrastructure supporting approximately 85 locations worldwide, four enterprise datacenters, manufacturing facilities, offices, showrooms, distribution centers, and cloud-connected business services.
This role is responsible for delivering highly available, resilient, and secure network services that enable business operations, manufacturing systems, cloud connectivity, unified communications, and enterprise application performance. This role participates in all phases of the technology lifecycle including architecture, engineering, deployment, monitoring, optimization, lifecycle planning, incident response, problem management, and technology modernization.

- Design, deploy, and support global enterprise network infrastructure across routing, switching, wireless, WAN, Internet, and datacenter environments.
- Develop network standards, resilient architectures, and long-term technology roadmaps.
- Lead lifecycle management, modernization initiatives, and performance optimization across a global network footprint.
- Datacenter and Core Infrastructure
- Design and support highly available datacenter connectivity and core routing architectures.
- Ensure business continuity through resilient network designs and disaster recovery solutions.
- Participate in infrastructure modernization, migrations, and standardization initiatives.
- Design and support HPE Aruba Edge Connect SD-WAN solutions.
- Optimize global WAN performance and user experience.
- Manage carrier services and support global infrastructure expansion and connectivity projects.
- Campus, Branch, and Wireless Infrastructure
- Design, implement, and support enterprise switching and wireless network environments.
- Support current and future campus networking technologies, including Arista switching and wireless platforms.
- Implement segmentation, QoS, high availability, and performance optimization strategies.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues across global locations.
- Support enterprise voice and collaboration platforms, including Microsoft Teams Phone and Cisco solutions.
- Assist with telephony modernization and cloud communications initiatives.
- Troubleshoot voice, routing, and call management services.
- Utilize monitoring and analytics platforms to maintain network health, performance, and availability.
- Manage network operations through centralized orchestration and management tools.
- Lead root cause analysis and continuous service improvement efforts.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement secure network architectures and controls.
- Support integration with firewalls, secure access technologies, and cloud security platforms.
- Maintain network security standards and best practices.
- Drive network automation and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Utilize scripting, APIs, and automation frameworks to streamline operations.
- Support continuous improvement, documentation, and process optimization.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in network engineering and consulting, with a proven track record of designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise network solutions.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, and wireless networking technologies
- Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, OSPF, BGP, and network resiliency principles.
- Experience in spine-and-leaf architecture.
- Responsible for architecture, standards development, strategic planning, technology evaluation, and cross-functional technical leadership.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, ACMP, ACSP, or equivalent.
