Purpose of the RoleThe Buyer plays a critical role in supporting the manufacturing operation and business objectives by ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services. This role helps maintain strong supplier partnerships, supports company quality standards, and contributes directly to operational efficiency and cost management.
Main Responsibilities- Collaborate closely with operations to ensure materials are aligned with forecasted demand, production schedules, and overall business objectives.
- Analyze inventory levels, usage trends, and forecasts to proactively manage supply needs.
- Purchase and expedite materials and services to support manufacturing and business plans.
- Communicate and manage supplier relationships and commitments.
- Track and update order status, ensuring timely delivery and addressing delays.
- Research and select vendors, negotiate rates, and coordinate deliveries.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance for cost, quality, and service.
- Support cost reduction goals and maintain favorable pricing metrics.
- Uphold company quality standards and handle urgent procurement needs.
Skills and Qualifications
- 2+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Bachelor’s degree or purchasing certification preferred.
- Knowledge of purchasing procedures and computer-based inventory systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with electronic and electromechanical components is preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills with suppliers and internal teams.
- Proficiency with Excel (V-lookup, Pivot Tables) required.
