The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement materials management strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.
• Oversee the procurement of raw materials, components, and MRO supplies, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
• Manage inventory control processes, including forecasting, cycle counting, and discrepancy resolution.
• Lead negotiations with suppliers to achieve favorable terms, pricing, and service levels.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure material availability and address supply chain issues.
• Implement and maintain robust material handling and storage systems for efficient operations.
• Analyze material usage and demand patterns to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
• Develop and mentor a team of materials professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in materials management or a similar role within a manufacturing environment
• Proven experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for inventory control and production planning
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and their application to materials flow
• Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts effectively

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with a variety of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, casting, injection molding).
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems beyond basic user functions, including configuration or report generation.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Experience in supplier relationship management, including negotiations and performance monitoring.
