Purpose of the Role:The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, onboarding, and managing strategic carrier partnerships within the Managed Service Department. This role supports carrier negotiations, procurement events, contracts, cost analysis, rate management, and carrier performance.
The Procurement Specialist serves as a key connection between carriers, customers, and internal teams, helping optimize transportation costs, improve service quality, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement through strong analytical, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
Top Responsibilities:- Carrier Partnership Management:
Source, evaluate, negotiate, and onboard carriers that align with customer requirements and ALS goals. Build strong, long-term relationships with carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders. - Carrier Performance Management:
Monitor carrier scorecards and key performance metrics, conduct regular performance reviews, and work with carriers to address opportunities and drive continuous improvement. - Procurement & RFQ Management:
Support and manage RFQ events, including negotiations, implementation, annual procurement events, and ad-hoc sourcing projects. - Market & Cost Analysis:
Analyze transportation costs, monitor market conditions and industry trends, and identify opportunities to improve service levels and optimize transportation spend. - Rate Management:
Manage and maintain transportation rates within TMS, ensuring accurate, competitive, and efficient rate management.
