Housekeeper, Maintenance​/Cleaning

The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Housekeeper, that will work alongside another housekeeper, as a team, to support the care, cleanliness, and interior maintenance of two private residences. This role is ideal for someone with a hospitality mindset who takes pride in exceptional service and enjoys working in a supportive, professional, and engaging environment.

The successful candidate will be honest, trustworthy, self-directed, and an effective communicator with strong skills in organization, cleaning, and laundry care.

This is a full-time role serving two private residences in Grand Rapids, with a schedule of Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

What You'll Do
Housekeeping

• Work collaboratively with other housekeepers and maintenance staff; receive direction from the Household Manager and Household Assistant.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with the Household Manager, Household Assistant, Personal Assistant, cleaning staff, and maintenance team.
• Perform daily cleaning with exceptional attention to detail, including vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms, offices, family kitchen, exercise room, mirrors, doors, and fixtures.
• Clean and maintain children's items such as car seats, strollers, and highchairs.
• Make beds and change linens according to schedule; empty trash and maintain overall cleanliness.
• Conduct detailed cleaning with extreme care, including memorabilia, fine and delicate items, chandeliers, baseboards, and screened porch areas. Polish silverware and glassware.
• Perform deep-cleaning tasks such as organizing cupboards, washing interior windows, completing seasonal (spring and fall) cleaning lists, and cleaning refrigerators and pantries while monitoring expiration dates.
• Report household maintenance issues or repair needs promptly.
• Monitor inventory of cleaning, laundry, and personal care supplies; notify management when items need to be ordered and restock upon delivery.

Laundry

• Wash, dry, fold, and iron personal clothing, household linens, and towels.
• Change bed linens and towels on scheduled days.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laundry area; ensure proper storage of laundry products, irons, and equipment.
• Manage dry cleaning, including sorting garments, coordinating service, and ensuring proper care and return of items.
• Maintain footwear by cleaning, washing, or shining as needed.

Additional Duties

• Greet vendors, accept deliveries, answer telephone calls, and contact Heads of Household as necessary.
• Run errands and shop for household supplies as requested.
• Care for indoor plants on a schedule and refresh floral arrangements as needed.
• Assist with seasonal decorating, particularly during the Christmas season, including gift wrapping.
• Communicate efficiently and confidently in person, by phone, text, and email; listen attentively, ask questions, and collaborate well with the household team.
