Financial Manager
Summary
Westminster Presbyterian Church seeks an experienced Business Manager to provide strategic financial management and human resources (HR) administration for our congregation and Core Missions (Camp Henry, Westminster Child Development Center, Downtown Food Pantry). This leadership role ensures fiscal stewardship, staff support, and regulatory compliance while serving as a trusted partner to church leadership. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and a servant-oriented heart, understanding that financial and human resource management in a church setting serves the greater purpose of enabling ministry and supporting our community of faith.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management
- Oversee all financial operations: AP/AR, general ledger, reporting, and banking
- Post timely financial results/reports to key constituencies
- Develop and monitor annual budgets with Trustees, Session, and Core Missions Boards
- Manage cash flow, investment accounts, and endowment funds per Trustees and Memorial Trust direction
- Coordinate capital campaign support, annual stewardship campaign support, and donor relations
- Ensure compliance with federal/state requirements (Form 990, tax filings)
- Implement internal controls best practices
- Coordinate an external review as needed and directed by the Trustees
Human Resources
- Process bi-weekly payroll and manage tax filings for ~50 FTE positions
- Administer employee benefits, retirement plans (Fidelity), and Board of Pensions updates
- Coordinate onboarding, maintain personnel files, and ensure employment law compliance
- Manage worker’s compensation and FMLA
- Update personnel policies with Personnel Committee
- Provide HR guidance on conflict resolution and performance matters
Strategic Planning & Leadership
- Steward the many assets of the church responsibly and creatively
- Serve on church leadership team and provide financial analysis for strategic decisions
- Supervise financial administrative staff and manage external vendor relationships
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement best practices in financial and HR management
- Maintain insurance coverage and ensure confidentiality of financial/personnel data
- Coordinate execution of IT needs with Technology Committee and outside vendors
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years progressive experience in finance and HR management
- Proficiency in accounting software, payroll systems, Google Workspace, and MS Office
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, employment law, and HR best practices
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and discretion with confidential information
- Strong communication skills and commitment to supporting church mission
Preferred Qualifications
- Non-profit or church financial management experience
- Familiarity with PCUSA polity and reporting
- Professional certification (CPA, PHR, SHRM-CP)
- Experience with church management software and Form 990 preparation
- Compensation: Negotiable based on experience. Comprehensive benefits including vacation, medical, and retirement savings.

- Classification: Full-time, Exempt (40 hrs/week)
