The Facilities Manager plans and directs all maintenance activities for the buildings and grounds of the Grand Rapids facility in support of company goals, utilizing available resources in the most efficient and effective manner while complying with time and budget constraints. Projects may be very large and have a significant impact on overall company goals. The Facilities Manager oversees all facility contractors, including HVAC, electrical, water, sewer, gas, janitorial, landscape, safety equipment, and security.
This individual is responsible for cultivating a wide network of internal and external resources to facilitate the completion of tasks. They demonstrate advanced project management skills by acting as a project manager on large, conceptually defined projects. The Facilities Manager has direct reports that include Plant Services employees, collaboration with maintenance, millwrights and machine repair, as well as contractors and vendors.
- Plans, organizes, and prioritizes daily work routines for the team to meet established schedules.
- Demonstrates self-confidence, and ability to manage consultants, and contractors, while interfacing with multiple departments, working with internal manufacturing engineers, operation managers, and skilled trades and plant services to manage projects, policies and procedures.
- Schedules and Directs Plant Services employees across 3 shifts with collaboration from off-shift supervisors.
- Manages attendance and PTO for all Plant services employees.
- Exercise authority and judgment within generally defined limits to determine appropriate action. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays resulting in the allocation of additional resources or negatively affect significant business goals.
- Responsible for contacting outside contractors and vendors to procure quotes regarding work that is required within this facility.
- Bachelor’s Degree – from a 4-year college or university along with 3+ years’ experience in a related field or 10 years’ experience in the related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, including advanced skills in MS Excel. Oracle Experience is preferred.
