Job SummaryThe Facilities Janitorial Supervisor provides leadership and direction for a group of technical and building staff within the Trades Shop. The focus is on hands‑on work, instructing team members, emphasizing good maintenance practices, and delivering quality building maintenance. The Supervisor maintains organization, coordinates with fellow supervisors and team leaders on projects and special events, and supports other management operations as requested by the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Control expenses within the scope of responsibility.
- Travel 5% to local facilities.
- Manage, direct, and schedule work activities of skilled and semi‑skilled trades craftsmen.
- Assign work to direct reports.
- Coordinate building maintenance requirements with proctors of assigned buildings.
- Plan jobs to be done and monitor work in progress.
- Supervise the preparation of time‑keeping records and reports.
- Plan and supervise a progressive preventive maintenance program.
- Determine material and manpower requirements.
- Assist craftsmen on solutions to difficult problems.
- Provide on‑site supervision over hazardous or unusual work assignments.
- Respond to emergency problems in the facility.
- Maintain logs, perform rounds, and schedule direct reports on maintenance work orders, tests, and inspections.
- Maintain facility, shops, and mechanical areas in a clean and safe manner.
- Serve as a member of the facility’s emergency response team.
- Ensure that productivity and staffing are appropriate to achieve results outlined by the RVP and Operations Manager.
- Conduct and assist in interviewing, hiring, appraisal, and progressive counseling/coaching.
- Train for safety compliance, operational procedures, and company policies.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five years’ experience in mechanical, electrical, building or other skilled trade supervision.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.
- Excellent communication with senior client and internal staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations.
- Ability to multi‑task and establish priorities.
- Experience managing employees.
- Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
- Ability to use tools, machines, equipment, and materials of the mechanical, electrical, and/or building trades (20% field work, 80% administrative).
- Journeyman or Master’s license in HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical trade(s).
Multi‑site manager responsible for GMP facilities in Grand Rapids and Dexter. Oversees daily operations of a janitorial team, ensuring facilities are cleaned and maintained to high standards. This role involves supervising staff, managing supplies, maintaining quality control, handling administrative tasks, client communication, budgeting, and financial performance.
