Position: Packaging Technician 5- 3rd Shift

Role Summary

Packaging Technicians operate manufacturing production lines in a pharmaceutical environment, following standard operating procedures, GMPs, and OSHA requirements. They support development and execution of capital projects, corrective actions, and continuous improvement, while ensuring product quality, equipment reliability, and adherence to production schedules. This is an entry-level role in a career path with progression toward increasing competency and responsibility.

Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for individual contributions to achieve team deliverables, working effectively as a team member and coordinating with others.
  • Manage personal time and professional development, being accountable for results.
  • Follow standard procedures to complete tasks of varying scope, sequence, and complexity within the agreed timeframe.
  • Identify and solve moderately routine problems.
  • Complete assignments with moderate supervision using established procedures, referring deviations from standard procedures to the supervisor.
  • Ensure work is reviewed for accuracy, quality, and adherence to standards.
  • Operate assembly and packaging equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures and Batch Records, ensuring equipment is operational post-maintenance with accurate and complete maintenance logs.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and adjust processes or packaging equipment to enhance quality and efficiency, performing calculations for percent accountabilities, reconciling numerical values, and executing all manual packaging and inspection duties as required by the operating unit.
  • Support development and execution of Capital Projects, corrective actions, and continuous improvement ideas.
  • Perform all tasks in strict compliance with operating procedures, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate dependable behavior—follows unit/area/plant requirements and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors within the unit, taking ownership and accountability of the production schedule and product quality.
  • Willing to assist other production units to meet unit/site goals.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks in support of site objectives and maintain training to site goals.
  • Operate selected production process equipment and assist or perform setup with guidance from leadership.
  • Perform line clearances and cleaning; conduct process checks including package checks and hourly audits; perform equipment and facility compliance assessments.
  • Display core Pfizer values and competencies; train and mentor new colleagues; provide feedback regarding GMP documentation; perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Required:

    Proficiency in math and reading for understanding SOPs, cGMP, and Batch Records.
  • Required:

    Ability to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Required:

    Capability to perform tasks under demanding conditions.
  • Required:

    Basic computer skills for data entry and equipment operations.
  • Preferred:
    Experience in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred:
    Knowledge of GMP and familiarity with automated packaging equipment.
  • Preferred:
    Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, excellent communication, strong attention to detail, familiarity with AI tools, and mechanical experience/knowledge.

  • Physical Demands:
    Considerable standing; walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 42 pounds; manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination; manual packaging of products required.
  • Non-standard Work Schedule, Travel Or Environment Requirements:
    Positions can be staffed across all three shifts; weekend, holiday, and overtime may be required; on-premise work location.
