The Role

We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer – Adhesives & Sealants who will manage various adhesive projects from concept to launch at customer locations. This hybrid role is only open to candidates residing in the greater MI area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple technical projects, including defining scope, determining equipment/materials, developing timelines, building and testing specimens, and writing test reports.
  • Participate in internal and external cross‑functional meetings and activities to support business growth objectives.
  • Apply knowledge of product types offered to the market.
  • Conduct material/adhesive performance testing on representative substrates and parts.
  • Provide on‑site and remote customer service and technical support for various adhesive applications, focusing on product assembly, automotive, and other areas such as end‑of‑line packaging, converting, and graphic arts.
  • Demonstrate products, conduct trials, install equipment, and provide technical training.
  • Build strong rapport with customers and internal teams, offering technical assistance and troubleshooting.
  • Respond to customer and sales inquiries with timeliness and professionalism.
  • Utilize technologies and methods to manage workflow, communicate, create content, and access information.
  • Collaborate with team and organizational partners, self‑motivated to prioritize, complete, and communicate workflow efficiently.
  • Use contact management systems to manage technical requests.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with a variety of personalities and skill levels.
  • Maintain ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation policies and procedures in the Rockford Laboratory.
  • Show good judgment and professionalism in all job‑related functions and correspondence.
  • Support and adhere to all safety procedures and complete required safety training.
  • Identify and support improvement opportunities for processes to meet company objectives and customer expectations.

Physical Requirements

Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree required.
  • Five or more years of experience in a technical or adhesive‑related field.
  • Experience in a customer‑facing role.
  • Experience in product assembly or automotive is a plus.
  • Familiarity with test lab protocol.
  • Ability to collaborate across business functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 50% of the time.
