Engineering Technician III

Location:

Grand Rapids, Michigan

A Day in the Life

The Engineering Technician III functions as a key technical support resource within Manufacturing Engineering, primarily supporting Industrial Engineering activities. The role enables manufacturing efficiency, data accuracy, and continuous improvement by supporting time studies, standard work development, layout updates, and manufacturing system data maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Provides technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle‑time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes and products.
  • Monitors instruments and equipment and collects operating data, including calibration, inspection, testing and repair activities, to assist in making on‑line adjustments to instruments, equipment, or products.
  • Analyzes and resolves malfunctions and deviations of instruments and control systems to identify and resolve problems.
  • Conducts, analyzes and prepares reports using metrics from salvage tracking, trending, reporting and root‑cause analyses.
  • Maintains process designs to optimize process, equipment and facility use while conforming to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
  • Prior experience conducting time studies and labor observations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with manufacturing data, reports, and metrics.
  • CAD experience (AutoCAD, Solid Works, or similar) for layout and workstation design.
  • Power BI developing experience.
  • Familiarity with standard work documentation and labor modeling.
  • Experience supporting layout optimization or space utilization projects.
  • Exposure to Lean, MPS, or Operational Excellence initiatives.

Benefits & Compensation

Salary range: $58,000.00 – $87,000.00 USD (U.S. excluding Puerto Rico). Eligible for the Operations Incentive Plan (OIP).
