Apprentice - Mold Maker

Description

The Mold Maker Apprentice assists in the construction, repair, and maintenance of molds used in manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding or die casting. This entry-level role combines hands‑on shop work with structured on‑the‑job training to develop skills in machining, blueprint reading, mold assembly, and precision measurement.

• Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and fitting of molds and mold components
• Operate manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM) under supervision
• Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications
• Measure and inspect parts using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators)
• Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble molds
• Support troubleshooting of mold issues in production
• Maintain organized and safe work areas
• Follow company safety procedures and quality standards
• Participate in classroom training or apprenticeship coursework (if applicable)

• High school diploma or GED
• Basic math skills (algebra, geometry, measurements)
• Mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing
• Ability to read technical drawings (preferred but not required)
• Strong attention to detail
• Willingness to learn and take direction
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs

• The term of the apprenticeship will be four years of on‑the‑job learning with an attainment of 8,000 hours supplemented by the required hours of related instruction.

• 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday‑Friday
