Description
The CNC Machinist Apprentice is an entry-level position designed to develop the technical skills required to become a skilled CNC machinist. Under the guidance of experienced machinists, the apprentice will learn to set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines while ensuring parts meet quality and safety standards. This role combines hands‑on shop experience with structured training.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in setting up and operating CNC mills, lathes, or other machining centers
- Load raw materials and unload finished parts
- Monitor machine operations and report irregularities
- Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job travelers
- Perform basic machine adjustments under supervision
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Follow safety procedures and company quality standards
- Participate in apprenticeship coursework or technical training as required
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, geometry, trigonometry preferred)
- Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
- Ability to read a ruler and measuring tools
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- The term of the apprenticeship will be four years of on‑the‑job learning with an attainment of 8,000 hours supplemented by the required hours of related instruction.
- 6:00 am–4:30 pm Monday–Friday
