Position: Precision Die Refurbishment Lead (Tooling)

About The Role

Join our Grand Rapids, MI team and lead a high-performing toolroom focused on precision die refurbishment. You will guide technicians, coordinate complex repairs, and partner cross-functionally to keep production humming.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop die repair technicians; foster a collaborative, learning‑oriented environment.
  • Oversee die repair from diagnosis through verification, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of dies and completed repairs; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work with engineering and production to troubleshoot die‑related problems and prevent recurrence.
  • Keep precise records of maintenance activities and manage tooling/materials inventory.
  • Champion safety procedures and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Support onboarding and training for new technicians; encourage skill growth across the team.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical coursework or certification is advantageous.
  • Substantial die repair background with 3+ years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience with high‑pressure die casting and high‑volume machining is a plus.
  • Comprehensive understanding of die repair techniques, tooling, and materials.
  • Proven leadership, team coordination, and performance management skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings/specifications with accuracy.
  • Strong analytical problem‑solving and attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator—written and verbal.
  • Dedication to safety and rigorous quality practices.
Technical Proficiencies
  • Tool/Die/Mold Setup Experience
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Microsoft Excel
Equipment Exposure
  • Die Cast Machine (Cold Chamber)
