Job Description & How to Apply Below
Custom Profile is a $65M manufacturer specializing in engineered thermoplastic profile extrusions and sub-assemblies. Headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with additional production facilities in South Carolina and Mexico, we partner with top-tier OEM market players across many sectors.

Founded in 1992, we have grown steadily by focusing on tight tolerances, deep material expertise, and reliable production. What truly sets us apart, however, is our structure: we are employee-owned. When you join our team, you aren't just an employee-you have a literal stake in our collective success.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Quality Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of both new and existing manufacturing programs. In this position, you will be the guardian of our "Zero Defects and 100% On-Time Delivery" goals within an ISO-9001 certified environment. You will also collaborate closely with the Quality and Production teams to continuously improve and develop our overall processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional teams to analyze quality-related issues, implement product containment, determine root causes, and monitor effective corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Partner with Program and Quality Engineers during product launches to design QA best practices, develop new gauging, and establish clear workmanship standards and instructions.
  • Provide direct problem-solving support to the manufacturing floor, external customers, and quality department peers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace following 5S standards, and actively contribute to a safe, efficient, and collaborative facility culture.
Requirements

The Must-Haves:

At least 5 years in Quality or Manufacturing Engineering (or an awesome mix of relevant education and hands-on experience).
  • Deep knowledge of QA methodologies, strong blueprint interpretation, and solid GD&T experience.
  • Comfort working within an ISO/TS certified quality management system and proficiency with standard measuring devices.
  • Sharp problem-solving skills, strong math abilities, excellent communication, and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
The Awesome-to-Haves:
  • An Engineering or Quality-related degree.
  • Industry certifications like CQA, CQE, or CQM.
  • Experience with 5S/Lean manufacturing and ERP/MRP systems.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a moderate-noise production environment (safety glasses, hearing protection, and closed-toe shoes are our daily uniform on the floor).
  • Flexibility for occasional travel (mostly local, with rare overnight trips).
