We are seeking a qualified Forklift Operator responsible for safely operating and maintaining forklifts to ensure the efficient handling of materials within our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Safely operate and care for forklifts, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
- Complete and document forklift inspection forms before each shift and when operating new equipment; report maintenance needs to supervision.
- Locate and deliver stock to machines in a timely manner.
- Remove finished goods from machines and maintain organized stacks of stock in storage areas.
- Accurately complete necessary paperwork related to stock location and equipment utilization.
- Adhere to the daily production schedule, recommending optimizations to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals.
- Assist other forklift operators and serve as backup to the Shipping Lead Person as needed.
- Prepare and submit reports including Production Data, Machine Operational Status, and Quality Data in a timely manner.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, maintaining good housekeeping practices.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience as a forklift operator preferred.
- Valid forklift operator certification is a plus.
- Strong mathematical skills; ability to read a tape measure accurately and perform calculations related to measurement, volume, and percentages.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions, applying common sense to resolve issues in standardized situations.
- Technical knowledge of equipment design, product layouts, and production specifications.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and communicate effectively.
- Frequent use of hands and arms, including reaching, kneeling, and bending.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly; occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level is typically loud; appropriate hearing protection is required.
- Insurance coverage (if elected) begins on the 1st of the next month following your start date.
