Shift Times

  • 1st Shift (6:30 am – 2:30 pm)
  • 2nd Shift (2:30 pm – 10:30 pm)
  • 3rd Shift (10:30 pm – 6:30 am)
Objective

The Maintenance Technician Tier 2 solves equipment‑related manufacturing challenges, maximizing equipment efficiency to achieve team goals while maintaining company quality policies.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Associate’s Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology or completion of a college‑based or apprenticeship‐based Maintenance Technology or Technician program or certificate.
  • Ability to train, teach, and assess other Maintenance Technician trainees and lead mentoring in a team environment.
  • Experience in machine repair of metal stamping equipment, spot/resistance welding equipment, robotic welders, and grinding/finishing equipment.
  • Experience operating all "tools of the trade" including welding, mills, lathes, cutting equipment, metal shear and brake, and drill presses.
  • Ability to manage projects and resources effectively, including PLC programming, troubleshooting, and understanding advanced electrical prints and schematics.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings, blueprints, schematics, code requirements, service manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Welding, layout, and construction skills including MIG, TIG aluminum, TIG steel, oxy‑acetylene, and plasma cutting.
  • Proven mechanical inclination and general math and manufacturing knowledge through standardized tests.
  • Computer literacy and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Excellent work record, including attendance.
Essential Functions Standard Work / Preventative Maintenance
  • Provide technical (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic) expertise to production teams.
  • Use drawings, blueprints, schematic diagrams, service manuals, and designs to install, modify, enhance, and repair machines.
  • Apply PC/PLC and electrical schematics for electronic installations and repairs.
  • Read and interpret hydraulic, pneumatic, machine manuals, and electrical schematics for safe, effective repairs.
  • Operate lathes, mills, plasma cutters, and cutting equipment to fabricate or repair parts.
  • Perform MIG, TIG aluminum, TIG steel, and oxy/acetylene welding to maintain equipment and fabricate parts.
  • Restart machines and equipment after modifications or repairs to ensure optimal operation.
Troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot equipment throughout production, including metal stamping, welding, robotic welders, and finishing equipment.
  • Continuously increase technical knowledge and alternative work methods through training classes and seminars.
  • Share and gain knowledge from co‑workers to enhance guidance, training, and best practices.
  • Address all machine‑related issues promptly, with updates and schedules as necessary.
Record‑Keeping / EAM
  • Complete appropriate documentation for machine, panel, and preventive maintenance records.
  • Document hours and work activity daily in the Electronic Asset Management system.
  • Provide bill of material and marked‑up prints after installations or repairs.
Continuous Improvement / Lean Principles
  • Identify and eliminate waste to improve efficiency and overall production.
  • Participate and support lean initiatives, including continuous improvement events and problem‑solving teams.
  • Suggest and implement ideas to increase personal and departmental efficiency.
  • Participate in 8D and 5‑Why problem‑solving teams.
Quality
  • Ensure equipment maintenance and repairs meet quality standards.
  • Assist in updating drawings, blueprints, and schematics per code requirements and manufacturer specifications.
Safety / 5S
  • Adhere to company policies, ISO, TS 16949, and safety regulations.
  • Follow safety procedures, MIOSHA requirements, PPE, lock‑out/tag‑out, and other control devices.
  • Identify potential safety issues and take corrective action.
  • Maintain personal work area and maintenance area per 5S standards.
Organization / Communication / Professionalism
  • Communicate effectively with co‑workers and management.
  • Provide accurate, timely feedback on all relevant information.
  • Maintain attendance habits and working hours as required.
  • Organize and maintain personal work area efficiency.
