Position: Process Support

Process Support/ Forklift Operator

Location:

Grand Rapids, MI 49507

Contract:

3 months onsite

Shift: 1 ST shift

Payrate: 20/hr - $22/hr on W2

Situation In Organization

Position reports directly to the Alsip Production Superintendent and Training Advisor.

Job Dimensions
  • Responsible for monitoring the filtering, loading, and movement of different latex products to assigned trailers/railcars.
  • Responsible for raw material receiving/shipping.
Activities
  • Activities are related to logistics for the client’s Coating Resins business located in Alsip, IL.
  • Monitor loading of different latex products to maintain an acceptable flow of material to the trailer/railcar.
  • Allocate and coordinate trailers to be transported from the loading station to the staging yard in a timely manner.
  • Comply with standard operating procedures associated with the manual cleaning of multiple latex filters to maintain an acceptable flow of material to the container.
  • Comply with standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines to safely load various containers for shipment.
  • Complete the movement of material from trailer to trailer, trailer to tank, depending on the specific blending activity needed.
  • Follow housekeeping and safety procedures to insure personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Responsible for unloading of deliveries at the warehouse dock.
  • Maintain certifications.
  • Attend daily meetings and provide routine communication to the daily loading activities and associated production needs.
  • Follow up these communications in writing, telephone or e-mail as needed.
  • Routine use of a computer to communicate via e-mail, complete online training and other tasks as assigned.
  • Work closely with control room operator to maintain operations.
  • Completes daily and weekend checklists (daily inventory).
  • Train new employees in specific areas of expertise when required to build plant operational knowledge.
  • Completes all assigned Impact items.
  • Supports all AIMS initiatives.
  • Ensures workplace safety by conducting safety observations and reviews while adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Participate in HSEQ activities provided by the site management.
  • Comply with the HSEQ Policy.
  • Comply with Regulations, Legal and Internal Requirements as made known by the site and by the business unit (BU).
  • Comply with the rules of the specific location to which one is assigned as well as the rules set by the business unit (BU) and client company.
  • Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions, aka SP, SOP, PWI, TM, to ensure productivity, quality assurance and cost effectiveness.
  • Review their work areas for potential losses and Report hazards to the direct supervisor.
  • Report Near Misses to the direct supervisor.
  • Report Incidents or Accidents to the direct supervisor.
  • Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Context And Environment
  • This position will be based in Alsip, Illinois.
  • Works closely with peer group to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Works closely with other functions, such as control room operators and quality control to ensure efficient operation of the plant to meet production demand.
Accountabilities
  • Accurate and efficient compliance with standard operating procedures to execute assigned tasks.
Qualifications / Experience Required
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 1-3 years warehousing or logistics experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while acting as a strong team member.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Previous forklift or powered industrial equipment license or certification is preferred.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at significant heights
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds; both to carry and to lift overhead.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator.
  • Must be able to enter confined spaces
  • Must be a highly motivated, team player and able to work independently.
