Staffing Inc is partnered with a growing West Michigan manufacturer seeking a Production Team Leader to join their team.
The Production Team Leader is responsible for supporting plant operations by leading production teams, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and maintaining efficient workflow throughout the shift. This hands-on leadership role works closely with front-line leadership to develop team members, resolve production issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a motivated servant leader who enjoys coaching others while thriving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support daily production by ensuring schedules are met and production goals are achieved.
- Serve as the first point of contact for scrap, downtime, and quality concerns, escalating issues as needed.
- Perform first-piece approvals, quality inspections, color checks, and process verifications.
- Coordinate cell changeovers, equipment setups, and minor machine adjustments.
- Troubleshoot basic production and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Partner with Lean teams to maintain Flow Cell Certifications and improve operational efficiency.
- Coach, mentor, and develop production operators while promoting accountability and teamwork.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and production procedures.
- Utilize production and quality systems for reporting and inventory tracking.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Operate a forklift as needed to support material movement and production.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of manufacturing or machine operator experience, preferably in plastics manufacturing.
- At least 1 year of leadership, team lead, or supervisory experience (formal or informal).
- Demonstrated ability to coach employees and hold team members accountable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions.
- Valid driver's license (or ability to meet job-related operating requirements).
- Minimum of 1 year of sit-down forklift experience.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
