The Forging Operator will be a hands‑on position responsible for high quality manufacturing of self‑piercing rivets (SPR). Tasks include set‑up and running a 6‑station cold heading machine and ensure all settings are proper to achieve optimal results. Operators will be responsible for following processes as described by the work instructions and keeping work area clean and organized. You will report to the Production Supervisor and or Team Lead.
ESSENTIALDUTIES:
- Employees must always demonstrate safe work practices
- Set‑up and operate cold header machines
- Follow work instructions and procedures
- Understand and operate machine controls
- Change tooling and weld coils as required
- Maintain good quality using Statistical Process Control
- Maintain required production numbers while keeping scrap rates low
- Must be able to run multiple cold-heading machines throughout shift
- Follow 5-S principles

- Troubleshoot quality issues during production
- Must be able to run multiple cold-heading machines throughout shift
- Follow 5-S principles
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Understanding that Safety and Quality come first
- Must be good with hand tools and have a strong mechanical aptitude
- Self-driven
- High attention to detail
- Ability to understand and measure parts using appropriate measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, indicator gages
- Ability to read part prints and tooling prints
- Basic computer skills
- Basic mathematic skills including use of decimals and fractions
- Punctual, reliable and team-oriented
- Positive attitude with a growth mindset
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. periodically
- Must be able to move around production area, including standing and bending
- Must have good visual acuity to read and use operations software system
- Push or pull tool/welding kits
- Occasional crouching or bending to operate controls low to the ground
