This position is referral bonus eligible

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will provide WIC, Oral Health and Immunization Program services within the Community Clinical Services Division of the Kent County Health Department. Duties will include hemoglobin and anthropometric assessments, nutrition assessment and counseling, breastfeeding and lactation support, providing medical and social referrals, oral health screenings and fluoride varnish applications as well as assessing immunization records, educating clients on vaccine preventable diseases and administering routine and travel vaccinations.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, no weekends, nights or holidays. Will be required to work 10 am – 7 pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.

2026 Starting Wages
  • Step A: $32.61 – Associate Degree in Nursing with 36 months or less experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Step B: $33.81 – Associate Degree in Nursing with 37 months to 60 months of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Step C: $35.30 – Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 36 months or less of experience as a Registered Nurse; or Associate Degree in Nursing with 61 months or more of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Step D: $36.46 – Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 37 months or more experience as a Registered Nurse.

Graduation from a National League of Nursing accredited nursing institution and current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan is required.

Must be able to provide services to clients in a variety of County locations and possess a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license and have access to regular transportation.

Desired qualifications
  • Breastfeeding educational certifications (IBCLC, CLS, CLE).
  • Experience working with maternal, infant and child populations.
  • Computer literacy, including working knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, database management.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to be highly efficient while ensuring attention to detail.
  • Must interact positively and professionally with internal and external customers, and members of the general public from widely divergent cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to provide client service from a culturally aware and client driven perspective and deliver excellent customer service to all clients while following HIPAA guidelines is essential.

All Kent County Health Department employees, regardless of position, are required to have their immunization status assessed and vaccinations brought up to date in accordance with the current CDC recommendations for health care professionals, with exceptions only as required by law. Mandatory vaccines include annual influenza vaccination.
