Emergency Medicine, Director of Nursing, Healthcare Nursing, Clinical Nurse Specialist
Provides consistent leadership for the Emergency Department across two campuses and supports patient-focused, collaborative care in a shared governance environment. Responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and integrating the optimal, cost-effective provision of services in the ED. Additional responsibilities include providing clinical expertise, customer service, and service recovery techniques. The management duties encompass planning human resources, financial accountability, quality assessment and improvements, including regulatory compliance.
This position requires 24/7 accountability to the ED unit.
- Graduate from an approved program in professional nursing; BSN required, Master's preferred (MS, MSN, MBA, MHA).
- Current RN Michigan License or ability to obtain one.
- Certification in Nursing Administration encouraged.
- Minimum of five years of nursing experience with three years of progressive nursing administrative experience.
- Experience working in a union environment is preferred.
- Ability and skill in managing organizational change and continuous quality improvement processes.
- Creative and innovative approaches to achieving outcomes.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with hospital leaders, staff, and physicians.
- Strong problem-solving skills based on quantitative values and system thinking.
- Experience in staff development, coaching, mentoring, and counseling.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
- Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy, values, mission, and vision of MHP.
- Interest in integrating Shared Governance in both EDs and Critical Care.
Leads ED, ICU, and Trauma Services with over 100,000 ED visits annually.
Skills and Certifications- Experience with Emergency Services and/or critical care.
- Strong leadership background with innovative ideas and staff encouragement abilities.
- Experience working with multiple unions is a strong plus.
- Experience in high-volume ED and Critical Care units within healthcare organizations.
