Position: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

Villa At West Branch, located in West Branch, Michigan (ZIP 48661), is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team. The RN will assume responsibility and accountability for a group of residents during a shift of duty, providing nursing care through assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides licensed care to assigned residents as ordered by physicians and in accordance with facility, federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Ensures assigned work area (e.g., nurse station, medication cart, medication room, etc.), resident care rooms, and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Takes and records residents’ blood pressure and vital signs, administers catheter care, administers IV therapy as ordered within license limitations, and provides respiratory care such as oxygen and nebulizer treatments.
  • Charts nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner reflecting the care provided and the resident’s response.
  • Ensures the resident’s environment is free from accidents and hazards, immediately correcting or addressing potential safety risks when prudent and warranted.
  • Monitors and directs non-licensed ancillary services as deemed necessary to meet professional standards and maintain the highest practicable level of resident care.
  • Communicates and reports information to residents, resident families, physicians, guardians, governmental agencies, and facility personnel as required by policy and state/federal guidelines.
  • Ensures that all aspects of resident care plans are implemented and maintained; makes recommendations for care plan changes to the IDT per professional standards.
  • Ensures compliance with infection control standards, immediately correcting or addressing identified instances of non-compliance.
  • Follows and adheres to company policies and procedures regarding HIPAA compliance.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be CPR trained and possess a current BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or equivalent).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Gracious and welcoming personality for customer service interaction.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under stress.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Understands and follows infection control standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
  • Ability to interact positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other facility staff.
  • Positive attitude toward working with short- and long-term care residents and the elderly.
  • Meets all health requirements as required by law.
  • Demonstrates basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel), email, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
Education and Experience
  • Nursing degree or diploma from an accredited college or university.
  • Current license to practice in the State as a Registered Nurse.
  • One year of experience preferred.
  • Long-term care experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling, with or without mechanical assistance.
  • Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards; understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
  • Meet all health requirements as needed.
