Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Spinal Cord Injury Night Shift
Location:
Grand Rapids, MI (Main Hospital)
Employment Type:
Part‑time, Night Shift
Hours:
24 hrs/week (7:00pm – 7:30am), rotating schedule with weekend requirement
Compensation:
Starting at $26/hr (eligible for increase based on experience), shift differentials and sign‑on bonuses available

- Provide hands‑on nursing care to patients with spinal cord injuries, including medication administration, patient monitoring, wound care, bowel and bladder programs, and other clinical support.
- Collaborate closely with RNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary therapy teams to support safe recovery and prevent complications.
- Assist in the education and supervision of nursing shift staff, including coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including notes, medication records, and care plans.
- Administer required medications, procedures, and therapeutic services as ordered by physicians.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and infection control policies.
- Monitor and manage medication supplies and other clinical resources.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient satisfaction programs, and performance reviews.
- Respond to all staff inquiries and provide support for clinical decision‑making.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including adherence to safety regulations.
- Licensed Practical Nurse with an active, unencumbered license in the state.
- Current CPR certification.
- Minimum of 1–3years experience in long‑term or acute care, preferably with spinal cord injury or similar complex medical conditions.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong customer‑service mindset and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to fast‑paced, evolving patient needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.
- Physical ability to remain in a stationary position, move around work location, use keyboard, and operate department equipment as required.
