Registered Nurse; RN Sub-Acute Rehab Unit

Position Summary

Registered Nurse (RN) – Sub‑Acute Rehabilitation Unit, Day Shift – Full‑time. Primary location Grand Rapids, MI. Days worked on a rotating schedule with weekend requirement.

Hours:

36 hrs/week, 7:00am – 7:30pm. Compensation: starting wage $34/hour with potential increase based on experience, COVID pay, shift differential, and sign‑on bonuses. Other benefits include annual merit increases, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), PTO, holiday pay, PSLF eligibility, and tuition reimbursement.

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adults in sub‑acute rehab, including assessments, care planning, medication administration, and documentation.
• Collaborate closely with LPNs, therapists, physicians, and other interdisciplinary team members to support patient recovery and safe discharge planning.
• Delegate care to non‑licensed staff, ensuring all activities comply with department policies and procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives: identify opportunities for improvement, report unexpected events or near misses, and assist with data collection and documentation audits.
• Promote patient safety by following all applicable policies, identifying risks, and reporting incidents in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service standards, maintain confidentiality, and provide culturally sensitive care.
• Contribute to a professional work environment that encourages accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
• Assist in staff selection, orientation, and mentoring activities as directed by the Nursing Leadership Team.

• Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Michigan.
• Associate degree in Nursing required;
  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) preferred; all newly hired staff must achieve CRRN certification within three years of hire. Mary Free Bed will fund training and certification.
• Preference for experience in rehabilitation or acute care settings.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, decision‑making, delegation, and leadership skills.
• Strong time‑management, organizational, written, and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and general computer systems for documentation.
