Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing, Clinical Nurse Specialist, RN Nurse
4 South is a 44-bed progressive neurosurgical unit at Butterworth Hospital, providing care for complex neurosurgical and general neurology patients. The role involves managing shift accountability, supervising nursing staff, and coordinating operational and financial effectiveness of the unit.
Responsibilities- Assume shift accountability for managing, supervising, and coordinating the operational and financial effectiveness and efficiency of the nursing service/unit.
- Assist with clinical support, unit-based goal setting, program development, fiscal management, resource allocation, standards of care, and policy and procedure development and interpretation.
- Lead performance improvement and correction initiatives, and provide coaching and mentoring.
- Support on‑call duties as required to better support nursing service activities.
- Fill in for the hospital supervisor when necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) – required.
- Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) – preferred.
- Two (2) years of relevant clinical nursing experience – required.
- Recent relevant leadership experience (e.g., Charge Nurse, Shared Leadership, Magnet Champion, QSO) – preferred.
- Michigan Registered Nurse license – required.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – 180 days required.
- Corewell Health Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty Certification – required within 12 months of assuming the role.

Butterworth Hospital, 100 Michigan St NE, Grand Rapids, MI.
Shift: Night (7:00p.m. – 7:30a.m. or 11:00p.m. – 7:30a.m., variable).
Employment type:
Full time, 40 hours per week; variable weekends.
