Job Title:
Psychiatric/Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (Pediatric Specialization)
We are seeking a compassionate, highly skilled Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) with dedicated pediatric experience for a full-time contract assignment. In this role, you will be responsible and accountable for utilizing the nursing process to deliver exceptional psychiatric care within an inpatient or residential behavioral health setting. Operating with high clinical integrity, you will provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff, lead milieu management, and champion a person-centered, recovery-focused environment.
Position& Schedule Details
- Job Type: Full-Time, Contract.
- Clinical Setting:
Behavioral Health Hospital / Inpatient Residential Facility (On-Site). - Schedule Options:
Standard 40 hours per week. Due to high programmatic demand, the opportunity to pick up additional shifts (potentially working up to 48 hours per week) is highly available, though extra hours are not structurally guaranteed.
- Behavioral Health
Experience:
Minimum of 2+ years of dedicated professional experience in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing [Required]. - Specialty Focus:
Proven clinical background working with pediatric or adolescent psychiatric patient populations [Required]. - Core Competencies:
Strong foundational skills in therapeutic communication, crisis de-escalation, patient/family discharge education, and multidisciplinary care planning.
- State Licensure:
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan [Required]. Credentials must be fully active and verified at the time of submission. - Life Support:
Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification [Required].
- Assess patient care needs, develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary medical team, and continually reassess interventions based on patient progress.
- Function as a clinical leader on the unit, effectively delegating staff assignments, guiding direct care staff, and potentially stepping into a Charge Nurse role as required.
- Coordinate with attending physicians to manage medication regimens, monitor physical health components, and oversee programmatic scheduling or insurance pre-authorizations when necessary.
