Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) – Stroke Unit, Night Shift (United States of America).
Department:
Inpatient – 4N Stroke Unit.
Employment Type:
Full time – Nights. Compensation:
Starting at $34/hr (eligible for increase based on experience); shift differentials and sign‑on bonuses available.
Schedule:
Rotating nights with weekend requirement.
Hours:
36 hrs/week; 7:00p.m.–7:30a.m. Primary

- Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of your license, certification or registration and as required by law and regulation.
- Coordinate nursing care for patients, using patient‑centered plans of care developed with the interdisciplinary team and following departmental policies and service standards.
- Delegate and supervise non‑licensed staff, ensuring that all care complies with departmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for improvement, reporting unexpected events or medical errors and near misses, and assisting with data collection and documentation audits.
- Promote patient safety by following all applicable policies and procedures, reporting unexpected events or near misses without fear of reprisal, and communicating safety concerns to Nursing Leadership promptly.
- Demonstrate excellent customer‑service standards in interactions with patients, families, physicians and colleagues, including sensitivity to confidential information and cultural or religious needs.
- Maintain professional relationships with admitting and consulting physicians and other discipline members, integrating unique patient and family needs into the plan of care.
- Engage in ongoing competency development and meet regulatory and accreditation requirements within the defined time frame.
- Encourage a culture of personal accountability, mutual respect, open communication, and safety while maintaining a professional work environment.
- Assist with staff selection, orientation and preceptorship for new team members and RN students as directed by Nursing Leadership.
- Follow departmental policies related to payroll, patient chargeable items and other cost‑effective practices, and report opportunities for fiscal improvement to Nursing Leadership.
- Licensure:
Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan. - Education:
Associate’s degree in nursing required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Certification:
Registered Rehabilitation Nurse preferred; all new hires must become a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) by their third anniversary, with training and certification funded by Mary Free Bed. - Certification:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. - Experience:
Previous experience as an RN in a rehabilitation or acute‑care setting preferred but not required. - Skills:
Strong critical‑thinking, decision‑making, delegation, leadership, time‑management, organizational, and communication skills necessary to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines. - Physical Requirements:
No specific requirements for stationary position, movement, keyboard use, or equipment operation; must be able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally. - ADA:
