Registered Nurse - Psych/Behavioral Health
This position is for a Registered Nurse working evening shifts on a five-day schedule with eight-hour shifts totaling 40 hours per week. The role is within a behavioral health environment providing psychiatric nursing care to a diverse patient population including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. The RN will work as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team focused on maintaining patient safety, providing therapeutic support, and assisting with stabilization and treatment plans for individuals experiencing mental health conditions.
The position involves maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive care environment while managing a moderate patient assignment. Nursing staff are supported by additional assistive personnel to ensure efficient care delivery and patient safety. The role requires strong communication skills, emotional awareness, and the ability to work effectively within a psychiatric care setting.
Requirements:
Candidates must hold an active Registered Nurse license and maintain current Basic Life Support certification. Previous experience in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing is strongly preferred. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to manage multiple patients while maintaining therapeutic communication and safety awareness in a mental health setting. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, particularly Epic, is preferred. Candidates must possess strong observational skills, critical thinking abilities, and the capacity to respond appropriately to behavioral or emotional changes in patients.
The role requires effective teamwork with physicians, therapists, and support staff to ensure coordinated care for patients across different age groups receiving psychiatric treatment.
