Unit OverviewTrinity Health Grand Rapids Hospital, 3 Lacks is a 32 all private bed acute care unit that serves patients that are 65 & older. A high acuity adaptable unit; regularly have patients who are on telemetry, cardiac drips, high-flow oxygen; bi-pap; etc. Under the general direction of the Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse - LPN provides direct patient care to all ages of patients.

What you will work- Full-time 3 - 12-hour shifts

- High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited LPN program
- Current Practical Nurse license in the State of Michigan
- CPR or BLS Certified
- Under the direction of the RN, assists with the initial and ongoing assessment of assigned patients through observation and data collection, as delegated by the RN
- Performs activities which may be delegated by the RN and/or Physician, including but not limited to:
Venipuncture for specimens including blood cultures - Initiates and discontinues intravenous therapy, i.e., peripheral short catheters
- Inserts and discontinues indwelling and intermittent clean urinary catheterization
- Obtains laboratory specimens and performs basic laboratory procedures, i.e., point-of-care blood glucose, stool sampling, sputum collection, etc.
- Performs basic bedside care and selected procedures under the supervision of the RN: 12-lead ECG, dressing changes, routine respiratory care (coughing, deep breathing, incentive spirometry, pulse oximetry, oxygen setup and administration, handheld nebulizer)
- Measures vital signs; recognizes, reports, and intervenes for life‑threatening conditions
- Administers physician-directed treatments such as eye irrigation
- Conducts other unit-specific activities such as activities of daily living appropriate to the patient's condition
