About the Unit

Unit 6 North is a 38-bed Cardiovascular unit specializing in care for adult patients with heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, newly implanted pacemakers and defibrillators, LVAD readmissions, pulmonary hypertension and other cardiac conditions requiring medical treatment. Most patients receive continuous telemetry monitoring and care is provided 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

• Provide professional nursing care using the nursing process and patient-family centered care principles.
• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and discharge patients under the direction of the Nurse Leader.
• Develop teaching strategies for patients and families; document education in the health record.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

• Education: Associates in Nursing — Required;
  Bachelors in Nursing — Required within 5 years of graduation.
• Licensure: Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) — Required.
• Certifications: AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) — Required within 90 days; AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) — Required within 6 months.
