About the Unit

Center OB Special Care is a specialty within Obstetrics care focused on high‑risk pregnancies and pregnancy‑related conditions, as well as postpartum care. Common diagnoses include premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor or contractions, preeclampsia/hypertension, cervical shortening, vaginal bleeding, hyperemesis, and diabetes care. Staff are trained in electronic fetal monitoring, monitoring, and assessing mother and fetal well‐being and administering high‑risk medications.

• Deliver nursing care responsibly and accountably as described by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the State of Michigan.
• Demonstrate competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Uphold professional performance standards as described by the ANA, including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
• Strive to achieve optimal outcomes.

• Associate’s in Nursing required.
• Bachelor’s in Nursing required within 5 years of graduation.
• Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan required.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 90 days.
• 6+ months of inpatient RN experience preferred.

Hours:

24, Weekend Frequency:
Every other weekend.
