Admissions Coordinator

Responsibilities

Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108‑bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems.

As part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for the Admissions Coordinator position.

• Oversee in‑patient/out‑patient functions, bed assignments and the completion of preliminary paperwork for patients seeking treatment and support.
• Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and business office personnel to ensure appropriate patient placement.
• Upon arrival, escort the patient to an available consultation room, take vitals, collect patient belongings and ensure the patient’s safety.
• Confirm that all insurance benefits coverage meets standards of admissions as dictated by policy and procedures.
• Review patient consent forms, obtain necessary signatures, and copy patient identification and insurance cards.
• Take the patient’s picture and print necessary stickers for patient files as needed.
• Organize and enter patient information into the database in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Monitor and update the bed boards as needed.
• Complete the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) log in accordance with hospital policy and procedures.
• Respond to patient needs in a timely manner. Perform visual safety rounds every 15 minutes or less to ensure patient safety.
• Escort the patient and their belongings to the assigned unit, introducing them to nursing staff before leaving.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, mental health or a related field, or an LPN credential.

Fulltime (36 hours per week), Day Shift Hours.
