Overview
Unit 6 South specializes in advanced heart failure, pre‑ or post‑heart or lung transplant, Left Ventricular Assist Devices, Intra‑Aortic Balloon Pumps, and respiratory failure requiring BIPAP or Hi‑Flo Nasal Cannula. The unit provides an acuity‑adaptable environment that introduces new graduate nurses to ICU‑level care and non‑ICU assignments, building time management, critical thinking, and foundation skills.
Responsibilities- Apply the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to deliver patient‑family centered care.
- Manage continuous vasoactive infusions, pulmonary artery catheters, radial arterial lines, central venous catheters, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous insulin drip therapy.
- Collaborate with the Nurse Leader and interdisciplinary team to coordinate and document care in the electronic medical record.
- Provide patient and family education, develop teaching strategies, and document education appropriately.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing within the past 5 years.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Michigan.
- Certified BLS – AHA (Basic Life Support).
- ACLS – AHA (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) completed within 6 months.
- 1–2 years of inpatient RN experience preferred.
