About the unit

2 South is a 41-bed Orthopedic/Progressive unit at Butterworth Hospital. 2 South cares for medical patients as well as some surgical patients. As a team member on 2 South, you will see a wide variety of patients. Some of those diagnoses include Orthopedic Trauma, Ortho Oncology, Hip & Spine Fractures, Spine Surgery, where the other population is Progressive Care and Med/Surg overflow.

These diagnoses can be anything from COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Pneumonia, Sepsis, Congestive Heart Failure, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Drips, Bi pap as well as Post Op heart ablation and pacemaker replacement patients. Teamwork is what keeps 2 South thriving. They rely on each other to get through shifts and keep their staff united. With over 20 years of the same leadership, the culture on the unit is a wonderful place to learn and help develop you into a well-rounded caregiver.

The RN will deliver nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.

• Associate’s in Nursing required.
• Bachelor’s in Nursing required within 5 years.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) required.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days.
