Job SummaryAs a CNA, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by providing compassionate, hands-on care. You'll work closely with nursing staff to ensure our residents receive the highest standard of support in alignment with Holland Home's policies and mission.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and hygiene
- Support residents during mealtimes: serve meals and snacks, assist with feeding if needed
- Observe and report changes in physical/mental condition to nursing staff
- Help residents with mobility: transferring, positioning, ambulating, and exercise routines
- Answer call lights and respond promptly to resident needs
- Ensure a safe, clean, and dignified living environment
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families while providing emotional support
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold resident rights
- Participate in team training, meetings, and ongoing education
- Model the Holland Home Code of Conduct and utilize Positive Approach to Care™ principles
- Support onboarding of new CNAs
- Escort residents to meals, appointments, and activities
- Assist nurses with vital signs, specimen collection, and other tasks as needed
- Follow infection control guidelines and promptly report safety concerns
- Perform after-death care with respect and sensitivity
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by leadership
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a State-approved nursing aide program
- Current Michigan CNA certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certification
- Previous experience with elderly residents preferred
- Kindness and resilience when working with residents who are ill, disabled, or emotionally distressed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective documentation and written communication
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
- Reliable attendance and ability to meet health and physical requirements
- Emotional sensitivity when assisting residents and families
- Physical strength and stamina to lift, transfer, and support residents throughout the day
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods
