Job Summary

As a CNA, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by providing compassionate, hands-on care. You'll work closely with nursing staff to ensure our residents receive the highest standard of support in alignment with Holland Home's policies and mission.

Principal

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and hygiene
  • Support residents during mealtimes: serve meals and snacks, assist with feeding if needed
  • Observe and report changes in physical/mental condition to nursing staff
  • Help residents with mobility: transferring, positioning, ambulating, and exercise routines
  • Answer call lights and respond promptly to resident needs
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and dignified living environment
  • Build trusting relationships with residents and families while providing emotional support
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold resident rights
  • Participate in team training, meetings, and ongoing education
  • Model the Holland Home Code of Conduct and utilize Positive Approach to Care™ principles
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support onboarding of new CNAs
  • Escort residents to meals, appointments, and activities
  • Assist nurses with vital signs, specimen collection, and other tasks as needed
  • Follow infection control guidelines and promptly report safety concerns
  • Perform after-death care with respect and sensitivity
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a State-approved nursing aide program
  • Current Michigan CNA certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certification
  • Previous experience with elderly residents preferred
Skills & Abilities
  • Kindness and resilience when working with residents who are ill, disabled, or emotionally distressed
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective documentation and written communication
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Reliable attendance and ability to meet health and physical requirements

  • Emotional sensitivity when assisting residents and families
  • Physical strength and stamina to lift, transfer, and support residents throughout the day
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods
