Position Overview
Registered Nurse (RN) – Medically Complex (Cardiac/Oncology) Nights. Full‑time, night shift, 36 hours per week, 7:00pm – 7:30am, rotating schedule with weekend requirement. Compensation starts at $34/hr, eligible for increase based on experience, plus shift differentials and sign‑on bonuses. Primary location:
Main Hospital – Grand Rapids, MI, within the Inpatient – 3S Medically Complex Department. Other benefits include annual merit increases, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), PTO, holiday pay, PSLF eligibility, and tuition reimbursement.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care including patient assessments, care planning, medication administration, and clinical coordination for medically complex patients.
- Collaborate with LPNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary therapy teams to manage higher‑acuity conditions, support intensive rehabilitation, and plan safe discharge.
- Coordinate care for non‑licensed staff through delegation and follow‑up, ensuring adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in performance improvement activities, such as identifying opportunities to improve care, reporting unexpected events or medical errors, and collecting data for quality improvement measures.
- Promote and maintain patient safety, including reporting near misses and contributing to safety initiatives.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and professional behaviors in interactions with patients, family members, physicians, and colleagues.
- Maintain effective working relationships with admitting and consulting physicians and colleagues from other disciplines.
- Support employee selection, orientation, and mentoring processes as required by Nursing Leadership Team.
- Follow payroll, patient chargeable item policies, and cost‑saving initiatives to contribute to fiscal responsibility.
- Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Michigan.
- Associate’s degree in nursing is required; a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Certification as a Registered Rehabilitation Nurse (CRRN) preferred; all newly hired staff required to become CRRN within 3years of hire.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience as an RN, preferably in rehabilitation or acute care; strong critical thinking, decision‑making, delegation, and leadership skills required.
- Strong time‑management, organization, written and verbal communication skills.
- No specific physical requirements; staff may occasionally need to lift up to 10lbs.
