Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation’s Inpatient Acute Rehab Medically Complex Unit specializes in caring for patients recovering from cardiac conditions, cancer‑related diagnoses, and other medically complex illnesses who require intensive rehabilitation with close medical oversight. As an RN in this unit, you will provide comprehensive nursing care, including patient assessments, care planning, medication administration, and clinical coordination for medically complex patients. You will collaborate closely with LPNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary therapy teams, manage higher‑acuity conditions, support intensive rehabilitation, and drive safe discharge planning.

• Perform patient assessments and develop patient‑centered plans of care aligned with attending physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
• Administer medications and related care within scope of practice and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and delegate care for non‑licensed staff, ensuring adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives: identify opportunities for improvement, report unexpected events or near misses, and contribute to data collection and documentation audits.
• Promote patient safety, identifying and reporting safety concerns without fear of retaliation.
• Demonstrate customer‑service standards, including discretion with confidential information and culturally sensitive care.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with physicians, colleagues, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Support staff selection, development, and mentoring activities when required.
• Assist with financial performance by following payroll practices and providing high‑value nursing care within budgetary constraints.

• Registered Nurse license in the state of Michigan.
• Associate’s degree in nursing required;
  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Certification as a Registered Rehabilitation Nurse (CRRN) preferred; new hires will obtain CRRN certification by the 3rd anniversary.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Previous experience as an RN, especially in rehabilitation or acute care settings, preferred but not required.
• Strong critical thinking, decision‑making, delegation, leadership, time‑management, and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under time constraints, handle interruptions, and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to use computer systems for documentation.
