We are seeking an experienced Nursing Director – Emergency Department to provide leadership and oversight of nursing services and related clinical departments.
This Director-level position will oversee nursing practice, quality, staffing, operations, employee development, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and strategic initiatives. The Director will work closely with nursing and medical. Leadership to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and excellent patient and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Direct nursing practice, quality, personnel, operational, and financial activities.
- Provide leadership and oversight to nursing staff and assigned clinical departments.
- Manage nursing staffing, recruitment, retention, and staff development.
- Promote professional growth, advanced nursing practice, education, and career development.
- Develop and implement nursing goals, objectives, policies, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with DMC standards, regulatory requirements, licensing requirements, and Joint Commission standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, physician extenders, and nursing leadership to promote effective multidisciplinary care.
- Develop and manage operating budgets and monitor financial performance.
- Participate in administrative, quality, and strategic planning committees.
- Identify opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness, productivity, quality, and patient outcomes.
Support system-wide quality improvement and operational initiatives. - Promote a culture of ethical conduct, accountability, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Master’s degree required in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- If holding two degrees, at least one degree must be in Nursing
. - RN License State of Michigan
. - Minimum 5 years of experience
, which may include a combination of clinical and/or progressively responsible nursing management experience. - Previous nursing leadership/management experience required
. - Ability to work fully onsite in Detroit, Michigan
.
- Emergency Department or other acute-care hospital leadership experience
- Current certification in a related nursing specialty.
- Experience managing departmental budgets and financial performance.
- Experience with Joint Commission and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
