Director of Nursing
Michigan | Full-Time | Hybrid / Field-Based
Are you an experienced nursing leader ready for a role where you can have a bigger impact than managing day-to-day clinical care?
We’re searching for a Director of Nursing to lead nursing operations across multiple programs throughout Michigan.
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for someone who loves developing people, improving clinical quality, creating consistency, and bringing teams together. You’ll have the autonomy to lead while still staying connected to the nurses, frontline teams, and individuals receiving care.
This isn’t a traditional bedside DON position.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Lead at a broader level – oversee and develop nursing teams across multiple locations
- Make a measurable impact – influence clinical quality, nursing performance, compliance, and outcomes
- Develop people – coach RNs and LPNs while building a culture of accountability and support
- Partner with leadership – work closely with clinical and operational leaders to solve problems and strengthen programs
- Stay connected to the field – spend time with your teams and see firsthand how care is being delivered
- Have real ownership – enjoy significant autonomy while making decisions and driving results
You’ll provide leadership and direction to nursing teams across Michigan while ensuring consistent clinical standards and high-quality care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, coaching, and developing RNs and LPNs
- Establishing clear expectations and accountability across the nursing team
- Overseeing clinical quality, medication management, documentation, and compliance
- Monitoring clinical outcomes and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Using data and performance metrics to guide decisions
- Partnering with operational leadership to proactively address challenges
- Ensuring consistent nursing practices across multiple programs
- Maintaining an active presence in the field and building strong relationships with your teams
We’re looking for an RN leader who knows how to balance people and performance.
You may be a strong match if you bring:
- Active RN license
- 2+ years of experience directly supervising RNs and/or LPNs
- Nursing leadership experience within behavioral health, IDD, community-based services, or a similar setting
- Experience supporting individuals with complex clinical needs
- Strong clinical, compliance, and medication-management knowledge
- Ability to lead across multiple locations and priorities
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A leadership style that combines accountability with coaching and support
The Leader Who Will Thrive Here:
You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room. You do need to be someone people trust.
You’re steady, approachable, collaborative, and comfortable holding people accountable. You can have difficult conversations without creating unnecessary conflict, and you know how to build strong relationships across different teams and levels of leadership.
You also want to be close enough to the work to understand what your nurses and frontline teams are experiencing—not manage everything from behind a desk.
Ready for Your Next Step?
If you’re an experienced nurse leader who wants more autonomy, broader leadership responsibility, and the opportunity to influence care across an entire market
, this could be an exciting next step.
This is a full-time, hybrid/field-based position in Michigan with travel to assigned locations as needed.
