Job Purpose and Summary

In our retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians support our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver operational and service excellence, serve as the first point of contact for patients and customers, and help fill prescriptions safely, promptly and accurately.
Responsibilities- Support pharmacy operations and promote operational and service excellence.
- Serve patients and customers with a friendly, empathetic approach, including offering and promoting immunizations at the register and over the phone.
- Assist pharmacists in fulfilling prescriptions safely, accurately and promptly.
- Apply Standard Operating Procedures and best practices at each workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off).
- Show genuine care and contribute to a safe, inclusive culture where all people feel valued.
- Participate in rigorous company training and meet state board of pharmacy requirements; duties may be restricted until qualifications are complete.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as accurate put‑away, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks and waiting‑bin inventories.
- Embrace a growth mindset, seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge, and be receptive to feedback.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntary travel to other stores in the market.
- Understand and comply with federal, state, local laws, regulations and ethical principles.
- Comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled‑substance dispensing, privacy and security.
- Deliver additional patient health services (immunizations, point‑of‑care testing) where permissible by law and support.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status; educate patients about vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions and document vaccine supplies.
- Meet all state board of pharmacy requirements (age, education, licensure/certification). Minimum age 16 if no state minimum; high‑school diploma or equivalent otherwise.
- State‑level licensure and national certification as required.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to attend and complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus, and the capacity to pivot quickly between tasks.
- Excellent customer‑service orientation and friendliness.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, with active listening.
- Basic mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations.
- Problem‑resolution skills for challenging interactions.
- Physical capability to lift, reach, and stay upright for extended periods; able to lift up to 20 lbs.
- 1‑3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical or customer‑service setting.
- Ability to work in the home store and travel across the market as needed.
Hourly: $16.00 – $24.00 (base rate; actual rate depends on experience, education and geography).
