Job Overview: The Quality Floor Technician supports manufacturing operations by ensuring product quality through inspection, testing, and process verification activities on the production floor. This role works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to maintain compliance with quality standards, drive continuous improvement, and ensure customer requirements are met. The technician performs inspections, collects and analyzes data, supports validation activities, and maintains a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform first article inspections (FAI) and support process validation activities
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections using common hand gages (calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, pin gages, etc.)
  • Perform periodic quality checks and accurately record results on check sheets and/or electronic systems
  • Establish and monitor control points, clean points, and special inspection/sort activities
  • Support and execute safe launch containment activities, including inspections and data collection
  • Identify, segregate, and document non-conforming material, support containment and corrective actions
  • Participate in Gage R&R (Repeatability & Reproducibility) and other Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities
  • Assist in maintaining inspection equipment and gage control systems
  • Perform basic audits, including layered process audits (LPAs), 5S audits, and product/process checks
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing accurate data and observations
  • Maintain production floor cleanliness and organization (5S standards)
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, work instructions, and control plans
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures and promote a safe work environment
  • Communicate quality issues clearly to production and quality leadership
  • Support training of operators on quality standards and inspection methods, as needed
  • Maintain proper documentation and traceability of inspected materials
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education:

    High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 1-year experience in a manufacturing or quality inspection environment
  • Basic understanding of quality systems, inspection techniques, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience using hand measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and control plans
  • Basic knowledge of statistical concepts (e.g., SPC, data collection, trends) preferred
  • Familiarity with MSA and Gage R&R concepts preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Good math skills (basic arithmetic, decimals, percentages)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Office, especially Excel)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Team-oriented with a strong sense of accountability and reliability
  • Vision correctable to 20/20 and ability to distinguish colors (if required for inspection tasks)
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform inspection tasks for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
  • Experience in automotive or regulated manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of ISO/IATF quality standards
  • Prior experience with safe launch or containment processes
  • ASQ certification (e.g., CQT) a plus
Working Conditions
  • Primarily on the manufacturing floor environment
  • Exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
