Position: Postdoctoral Scholar-Fixed Term

Position Summary

The Burns Laboratory in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Michigan State University is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to contribute to NIH-funded research focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying endometrial function and endometriosis. This position will support projects integrating spatial transcriptomics, single-cell genomics, and in vitro modeling to investigate cell–cell interactions and disease pathogenesis in the endometrium.

The postdoctoral scholar will work both independently and collaboratively to support ongoing research activities, contribute to experimental design, and assist with data generation and analysis. The role also includes opportunities for mentorship of trainees and participation in preparation of external funding applications. Salary is based on the NRSA postdoctoral stipend schedule, notice NOT-OD-26-044.

Key Responsiblities:

  • Conduct laboratory-based experiments using molecular and cellular biology techniques, including RNA isolation, library preparation, and gene expression analyses
  • Support and implement workflows related to spatial transcriptomics and sequencing-based assays
  • Assist in the design, execution, and optimization of experiments using human tissue samples and in vitro model systems
  • Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records in accordance with institutional and funding agency requirements
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data in collaboration with the PI and research team
  • Contribute to preparation of manuscripts, reports, and presentations
  • Assist in training and mentoring students and junior lab members
  • Maintain laboratory organization, equipment, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Coordinate with collaborators and core facilities to support research objectives
