Meat Cutter Apprentice

6425 28th St SE - Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546.

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for properly cutting all types of meats into various cuts and preparing related products according to company standards; ensuring the shift contributes to the store’s financial best interests. Complete all other duties as assigned.

• Cut, weigh, and prepare steaks, chops, and other meats for individual servings.
• Produce value‑added products per established guidelines.
• Cut, trim, and bone carcass sections or prime cuts to produce cooking cuts.
• Follow recipes to grind and tray meats and make sausage and other products.
• Price, date, wrap, and/or bag meat products using department scales.
• Fill, rotate, and merchandise shelves, cases, and displays.
• Notify manager when products and supplies need ordering.
• Receive, unload, and stock merchandise.
• Maintain knowledge of all department products and practice suggestive selling techniques with customers.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and well stocked department.
• Follow PPE, Food Safety, Cleaning, and Guest Experience guidelines.
• Assist other departments as needed based on customer experience.

• High school diploma or GED.
• One (1) year retail or related experience preferred; prior experience in a Meat Cutter or Apprentice role strongly preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Detail oriented.

• Lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Stand and walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
• Work in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and occasional outside weather exposure.
• Noise level typically low to moderate.
• Travel requirements may vary by assignment.
