Haviland Enterprises, Inc., a 100% Employee Owned, industrial chemical, plastics and pool and spa chemical manufacturing and distribution company, specializing in creative chemistry seeks a Wastewater Technical Sales person for our industrial chemical sales in our Haviland Products Company-HPC division. This position will help industrial and municipal customers solve wastewater challenges while building a profitable territory. This is not a product-only sales role.
You will combine disciplined Business Development and problem solving with hands-on technical support. We are looking for an independent, reliable, self-motivated, self-starter, with a positive attitude, team approach, with an "Owner" and process improvement mentality.
- Grow the assigned territory. Develop new accounts, expand existing relationships, and execute a focused territory plan.
- Build a qualified pipeline. Prospect consistently, conduct effective discovery, maintain accurate CRM records, and move opportunities through implementation.
- Diagnose customer problems. Conduct plant surveys, review operating data, identify treatment constraints, and translate findings into treatability work, trial plans, and proposals.
- Provide technical field support. Assist with sample collection, jar testing, dose optimization, trials, startups, troubleshooting, and program reviews.
- Communicate clearly. Prepare technical reports, recommendations, quotes, and presentations that connect treatment performance to operational and commercial value.
- Protect and improve the base business. Respond to concerns, identify improvement opportunities, and coordinate internal resources to maintain service and grow share.
- Work safely. Follow customer and Haviland requirements, use appropriate PPE, report incidents and near misses, and exercise stop-work authority when conditions are unsafe.
- To promote by example the safety and health of all employees and ensure compliance with all safety and company policies and procedures and governmental laws and regulations, while safeguarding the workplace, community and environment.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, environmental science, engineering, biology, business, or a related field, plus at least two years of technical chemical, industrial water/wastewater, environmental services, or related process experience.
- At least two years of sales or account-development experience, including prospecting, new-business development, and account expansion.
- Working knowledge of industrial wastewater treatment fundamentals and the ability to learn customer processes quickly.
- Experience serving industrial, food-processing, or municipal customers; familiarity with instrumentation and technical reporting.
- Hands-on experience with plant surveys/audits, jar testing, treatability studies, chemical feed systems, trials, or program startups and implementation.
- Experience with activated sludge, clarification and solids separation, metals precipitation, nutrient removal, paint detack, or polymer/coagulant/flocculant programs.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, planning, and organizational skills, supported by sound business judgment, self-motivation, resilience, and accountability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems;
Hub Spot experience is helpful. - Strong business acumen and presentation skills with excellent interpersonal, communication, motivational, and influencing skills and ability to adapt to audience.
- Proficient knowledge of computers/software applications including Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software solutions (Hub Spot/Salesforce).
- A safe driving record and the ability to meet the travel and physical requirements of the role.
- High degree of personal integrity and clear commitment to complying with company, legal, and governmental regulations and an excellent role model for organization.
- Resilient, resourceful and optimistic with strong organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to effectively multi-task and manage time and resources to achieve individual and company goals and objectives.
